We’re hiring: Part-time contributing editors for race relations / religious divides verticals

We are seeking part-time contributing editors to lead coverage on race relations and religious divides in rural America for 100 Days in Appalachia. This publication is designed for a national and international audience seeking new insights and rural context for the political fractures that resonate across many American communities.

We are seeking contributing editors who can lead and produce assertive reporting that digs into the complex sources and state of these divides within Appalachia and that cultivates difference-bridging storytelling and community building among diverse audiences. The ideal candidates will have a track record of breaking news online and can develop content that sheds light on complex topics in a variety of forms — from short blog posts, analysis and explainers for social distribution to investigative news and larger team multimedia projects.

This contributing editors will work collaboratively with other reporters, editors and researchers at 100 Days in Appalachia, as well as other special project partners. Dependent on contract, the part-time contributing editors would be responsible for building a network of contributors, developing and acquiring content from freelancers, as well as producing original content for 100 Days in Appalachia.
